Natural can be described as innate or instinctive in essence, disposition, or temperament. Quite simply natural can be summed up as God-given or God-inspired because it comes so easily. So when 18 year old Patrick Robert Lemy also known as Skew was asked if he was afraid before his first performance on stage. His response was no surprise, “How can I be, I was made for thisâ€.The Hollywood, Florida native moved to Chicago, Illinois with his mother, Lisa Azor, as an infant, where she worked and attended school as a single parent. When Lisa realized that she was not able to care for the young artist on her own she made the difficult decision to send Skew to live with his aunt and uncle in New Jersey. It was in this home that skew was introduced to music, for it played an important role in everyday life. Skew became acquainted with a variety of different genres of music, from the ethnic vibes from his Haitian background to the jazzy nuance of the rhythm and blues. It was here that skew became involved with a life-long friend called Hip-Hop.At age 12, he became interested in poems; he read them religiously and not soon after began to right some of his own. Now a registered Nurse, Lisa decided it was time to retrieve her son, so along with his two younger siblings, and estranged step father, she moved the family to Hillside, NJ. This transition was a difficult one for the young artist and as reality took his course, music was his only refuge. As life played out its course, Skew put pen to paper creating a musical auto-biography.It was not until his freshman year in high school that he decided to take music to another level, so with the help of his close friends and cousin turned manager Dom, Skew built a studio in the basement of his home and began transitioning poems into lyrics, and lyrics into songs. Using MySpace as his launching pad, Skew recorded and posted music regularly, collaborating with a friend also rapper Welches. As Skew became a well-known artist on MySpace, he set the bar a little higher wanted to get his music heard wherever he could and so began the project of his first mix tape.Skew began working copiously on The Definition. He joined forces with a locally known producer Greg Hines, and decided that instead of going the traditional route of a mix tape he would change it up and use original beats. But Skew did not stop there, he knew the only way people where going to hear his music, was for him to perform it himself so with the help of Mental Supreme and the Training Camp events Skew progressed his art and fan base.The shoe of great rappers like 2pac and Biggie are big ones to fill but Skew is ready and willing to take up the challenge. Though to be successful is a crucial part in this the music takes the front seat. “All I want is for my story to be told, my thoughts, my views, and my music, to inspire someone else out there.
