Smash Bros is Dj DannyBoy and SouLKuTz, two industry veterans with over 20 years of combined experience. The two recently regrouped to form the party dj superduo.
Originally DB and SK met while attending high school in 1995. The two shared the same love of all things hiphop (djing, bboying, graffiti, mcs, beatboxing) and began djing different house parties and school organized functions. Although being total hiphop junkies the two had to learn to cater to different crowds and preferences in a market that wanted more than hiphop. While many djs played a wide variety of music, at the time they differentiated themselves by mixing multi genres of music to appease the party crowd. What is common now for most djs was unheard of in the mid 90s. Most djs stuck to one genre or were only push play djs.
In 1997, DB and SK secured their first club residency at the largest club west of the mississippi river (reaching capacity at a whopping 5500 people) known as club Omni (closed in 2002). During their 4 year stay (97-2001) at the club, the two djs fine tuned their dj skills and learned how to play to massive crowds of people expecting and wanting to hear what they liked. In late 1998 they were moved from the basement of the club to the main room (which would hit capacity at 2600 people for a record 36 weeks during Smash Bros club run) on Wednesdays and Saturdays and sold out the house for nearly 2 years.
In 2000, the two would form the now infamous, LOST SOUNDZ CREW. Initially starting the crew as a way to incorporate themselves in more clubs. DB would have a residency at Club "A" on Wednesday while SK was playin Club "B" the same night, the two would interchange using the crew name as a way for fans, nightclub promoters and managers, to know that the same quality of djs/music/mixing was in tact. In 2003, the two split ways with DannyBoy taking dominance over the nightclub scene in the tourist happy/Celeb trendy park city utah nightlife. Meanwhile, SouLKuTz relocated to Las Vegas and started up a new vision of Lost Soundz Crew with new partner Kev.
Both DannyBoy and SouLKuTz have achieved different levels of success and have decided to team up once again to rock different crowds under the moniker "Smash Bros". Recently the two launched an online radio station with Live365.com under the name of The Lounge. The station broadcasts completely free and features the many different styles of music heard at a Smash Bros outing. As well as exclusive dj only remixes from some of their pals in the industry.
