"In the world of jazz, the word "trio" usually connotes bass and drums with a guitar, piano, or sax out front. Animal Forum is a different species."
- Ron Netsky for CITY, Rochester NY, January 2008
ANIMAL FORUM, refered to by Nate Chinen of the New York Times as a "...young collective [with] an almost gleeful approach to free improvisation..." is a New York-based collective consisting of Canadian saxophonist Peter Van Huffel, Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser and Israeli drummer Ziv Ravitz. This unusual bass-less combination performs all improvised material stretching the sound barriers from the extreme avant-garde to grooves that continue to build into endless melodies. The trio, who has recently released their debut independent CD, has performed around New York City, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada, and will soon be returning to Europe for a Spring 2008 tour.
