About Me

Howdy y'all; Well, some time has gone by so I thought I would put up some new music for you to check out . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As always I'm real glad you could make it. Big old country Welcome to y'all Since were gonna have new songs, here's a little bit about each of them. . . . I wrote "THE GHOST OF COUNTRY MUSIC" too many years ago to talk about, when as seven year old guitar playing boy, I lay on my bed at night and listened to the "Grand Ol' Opry" on a "crystal radio". It was and is my dream. Give a listen to the words! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As many of you know, my songs are all stories about my life, times and experiences'. Put yourself in a Real Cowboy Bar, in the middle of West Texas in the mid 1960's, when a dude walks in who for sure don't belong! Well, I saw it, I still don't believe it, but heres the song 'YOU AIN'T NO COWBOY". Hope you enjoy it half as much as the folks in the bar did that night a long time ago. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "LITTLE HONEY" was written back a few years when Elvis was at his peak and I was a "wanna be" rocker. The pic associated with it was a band I had called The Travelers. Check out the "white sport coats" We actually did the song by a fellow I knew named Marty Robbins! That should bring back some memories. That's "The Ghost" on the left palying a Fender Jazz Master. Like most of my songs Little Honey was about a real life experience and the story just had to be told. It came naturally. I was hung up on this gal who didn't even know I was around and I knew it. So, I wrote the song to express myself. I've had a lot of fun doing this one on stage bacause with the right musicians it really moves and I tend to get a bit squirley on the bandstand when things go right. Funny how the audience goes nuts over a 75 year old guy with a white beard bouncing around the stage, playing lead guitar and acting like a teen ager! The version I have on this site is like all my songs; I played all the instruments and did the vocal as well. They are OK but I have a ton of songs that are screaming to be recorded properly and I intend to do just that. When I do, you will be the first to hear them. On this site. If you have any ideas or suggestions let me now. I would appreciate . . . . . . . . . . . "LONGNECK BLUE" Is just that. A guy, a gal again and this time he turns to a longneck. Must have happened in Texas and it musta been Longneck Loan Star (Not that I would Know) Heh, heh. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "WrONG SIDE OF THE STREET" Was written at a time in my life when I thought the direction I had taken (becoming a Musician) had probably been the wrong one (never happen) and the usual happened. My gal (at the time) decided I was less than committed to her and left me flat. She burned her bridges and really ticked me off and of course this prompted me to (you guessed it) write another song. I kinda like it. Hope you do too!. . . . . . . . . . "CLOSED CIRCUIT" was written many years ago when it became clear to me that as a musician working in night clubs, even though my gal could go with me, she decided not to. If you're a musician, you know the rest. Since I was always being accused of being a "Guitar Picking Gal Chaser" I would just write song about how I felt so here tis'. The pic is me in a club in a little town called Angeles Pampanga in the Phillopines doing what I do best . . . . . . . . . and a plan to escape. As are all my songs, Longneck is about another personal experience. I hope you like it. I do and it was fun collecting the ammunition (to say nothing about the hangovers) to write the song! . . . . . . . . . . . . . I'm really having fun putting all my work in a place that it can be heard. it would please me greatly if you let me know what you think. As you know, we are our own worst critic! Y'all enjoy and I'll catch you on "The Flip Side". . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I'd love to hear from all my Musicians Friends in the form of messages or on my blog(which I'm new at so don't be too hard on me) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The Ghost of Country Music

My Interests

Band Website: None. Ain't got time. Go to my blog & help me out
Band Members: Right now I'm it! I'm playing all the instruments and doing the vocals in my stuidio in order to get everything where I want it. I know some really "Exellent Musician Friends" that I hope would love to join me in this great adventure but as of right now, nothing going on. Once I finish all the songs the way I want them, have the connection(open to real offers) I want and can look a payroll in the face(you know what I mean), I'll put the band togather and the rest will(hopefully)be history! I still have that dreram and I know(respetfully) I have the talent to make it happen so it will.
Influences: In addition to all the "Wonderful Musicans/Entertainers" I have met in my life;....................................................... .................................................. The Beatles! They did it all! Scotty Moore, Lead Guitar, Bill Black, Upright Bass. Elvis' Original Band Members! Carl and Luther Perkins! Mike Longworth "Deceased", Martin Guitar Company Historian and my old Corn Music Partner and our Bass Player, John (Creeper) Gillum from Paris Texas! Two more of my old friends that have also gone on to a bigger and better bandstand. Chuck and Billy Ralph who paid me the honor of allowing me to me to become one of the Ralph Brouthers Band and play Lead Guitar for them. Man I miss them all! Don Rich also left his mark on me! You will recall he Played Lead Guitar, Fiddle and sang tenor for Buck Owens when he started along with Doyle Holly on Bass, Willie Cantu on Drums and a little red headed Steel Player who's name escapes me. My band at the time, "The Travelers" Opened a few times for Buck and the Boys and we were really energetic and popular till "I" got loaded one night and that was the end of that. Fired, by my own band! The Buckaroos were a very straight bunch of guys. Now Don and Buck are both gone also. Hmmmm! Jimi Hendricks had me moving in the rock direction along with the Beatles and Dave Clark Five and a few more, I did OK and folks liked us but I must not have been cut out to be a rocker I guess so I migrated back to country. I worked with and was impressed by Donnie Young (you know him as Johnny Paycheck). When he was straight (which was not often) he was a hell of a singer/entertainer and played one hell of a steel guitar. Started with George Jones. Another fellow who influenced me a bunch! Oh yes, Chet Atkins! Now that was a Guitar Players Guitar Player along with Merle Travis. I could go on for hours, name names like Stonewal Jackson, Ray Price, Cowboy Copus, Jimmy Dickens, Bill Williams and lots more that I worked with and bore the hell out of everyone but hopefully this is enough! I guess if anyone whats more, just let me know any I'll be happy to give it to you! About me. I have no band right now. I'm looking hard for to get hooked up with but it's gotta be special. I play lead, rhythm, mandolin, banjo, bass, harmonica, keyboard, drums and just about anything else with strings. I also sing all parts and write pretty good but for right now I just wanna be like MOC, my Son in more ways than one! Now he really influenced and impressed me! Peace for real!
Sounds Like: Been told I sound a lot like Buck Owens or Jimmy Dickens and after a few Long Necked Loan Stars Willie. Musically I like to think my experience with Don Rich left it's mark and I know I got some Carl and Luther Perking in me somewhere trying to get out, but I really just like to sound like me. I like me a lot. Been friends with me for 75 years and hope to continue for another long spell Good Lord willin' and the Brazos don't get too high to cross in a pole boat! I still wanna be like MOC, Peace man!
Record Label: Usigned with ton of experience and talent (hot)!
