Sacraea Saturna was founded in september of 2005 in Veldhoven, The Netherlands. Vocalist and back then still guitarist Thijs had a vision of creating his own gothic doom metal band for quite some time then, and during the annual Cult & Tumult festival he gathered some musicians with similar interests to discuss his concept. Everybody there was quite enthused and the then still nameless band was born. In november of that year our rehearsals started at the Odeon in Veldhoven, with Thijs (vocals & guitar) and Veronique (bass) already in the line up.
In the beginning of 2006 Nathanaël was appointed as our guitarist. He was already a frequent visitor at our rehearsals, and was very interested in our guitar vacancy. With him joining the band, we also gained a second music- and songwriter. A new guitar player came in handy, as Thijs wanted to concentrate more on his vocals.
In may of 2006 we moved our rehearsals from the Odeon in Veldhoven to the Safe in Den Bosch. The new rehearsal space was a lot bigger and offered us more professional options. Because we rent this place for an entire month, setting up and packing everything is not necessary anymore. We can now just leave our own equipment there. This new rehearsal space came along with our new drummer Matt, who we had picked out of our local music store.
In the summer of 2007 Bianca was hired as our new synth player. She turned out to be a good choice, mainly because she is very talented and also the chemnistry with the rest of the band was there instantly. After quite a few line up changes finally a steady and highly motivated band has arisen. Now we're working hard towards expanding our own repetoire and since november of 2007, we are finally ready to perform! In the summer of 2008 our first demo "Tales of love lost..." was recorded. Our plans for 2009: to write & record more songs, make a videoclip and ofcourse to perform as often as possible!
