Robin Norman Goldberg is everything you want from an unknown folk hero. Moody, unreliable and increasingly apathetic he challenges you to find a less bothered wannabe. He is in fact a don'treallywannabe. Which is a happy coincidence because he isn't. Robin Norman Goldberg's M.O. is to persuade various musician friends to visit him, promising tea, drugs, sex, whatever it takes really. He is known to then lock the doors and refuse exit until they have contributed to a recording.
When he was young of course he was "in a band". FINK, for that was their name, cruised the pub toilets of London seeking stardom and came away contracting not recording deals but only viruses. Bitter and encrusted with sores the band broke up amidst acrimony and accusations. So much for fame.
Now in his mid 80s - sorry - 30s, he is upbeat and positive about the chances of finally landing a record contract. "Yeah, yeah just stick any old crap on, it'll do. What, a picture? It's only a bleeding website. What? Who are the Arctic Monkeys?" he said recently. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
