Gruvodisiac hails from Amsterdam, that old world city of sin.
The duality of life in this capital of debauchery and traditionalism has greatly affected the minds of this frenetic duo.
With their debut EP, Fucha Music, they are attempting to unify the sounds of all the music they love, into a tight melodic package. They have a list of influences so long it would be unfair to make an incomplete list.
But to put it in simple terms: It has the energy of rock with the attitude of hip hop, the flavor of funk and the futurism of electronica.
While they call Amsterdam home, both members of Gruvodisiac have immensely varied backgrounds.
Oscar was born and raised in Amsterdam, and is descended from one of the premier music families on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. As a result, music has always been a part of his life. He began his musical career playing drums in a punk band. But with the blood flowing through his veins it was a matter of time before he added guitar, piano and programming to his skill set to incorporate into the many styles of music he was playing.
Roderyck is a lifelong nomad, born in Caracas, and raised in Curacao, he began his musical life as a guitarist in a grunge band when his family moved to Miami in his mid teens. He honed his skills in bands playing metal, punk and industrial while searching for greener pastures in Prague, Boston, London, San Diego and Ibiza. Bass and production skills were developed in Amsterdam when he joined the band in which Oscar was drumming.
For this project, Gruvodisiac decided to remove every limitation in order to create something entirely original. As a result, sampling any records was strictly forbidden. Every sound you're about to hear on Fucha Music was performed by either Roderyck or Oscar.
