BIO
Formed by Kurt Kettler in 2005 with ex-drummer, Randy Orchard, AnathematizeD struggled to find dedicated and solid members. They started with 5 members but after the first gig, was stripped down to only 3 remaining survivors. With a tighter lineup and set with 3 members, they began to play anywhere they possibly could to expose their style of metal leaving their message on the different views of religion, politics, addiction, life, death, suicide and various other dark fictional based ideas in every town or drinking hole they passed. Mixing classic Thrash metal with slight taste of the evergrowing sound of Black metal, the response and reaction was almost inevitable, but due to lack of equipment and funding, the full sound was unable to be grasped.
AnathematizeD found themselves in a bind in early 2006 when bassist/guitarist Erik Kettler was fired/quit due to a dispute with other members. With no bass player they continued to play shows as a 2 piece and write heavier, faster and more complex songs than ever before. In 2006 they recorded the first Demo titled Altered By Madness.
It featured 4 tracks:
Rise, Chaos Rise/False Hope
Altered By Madness
The Feeding
Then There Were None
(This Demo is still available)
In July 2007, AnathematizeD added Rick Mintz to the lineup originally as a second guitarist. With a stretch of gigs coming up, Rick was given the offer to play the 4 string in which he accepted. After nearly 2 years, with all points of the triangle, AnathematizeD seemed complete,
but in June 2008, Kurt Kettler (driving force behind AnathematizeD) dismissed the two unprofessional personalities and burdens, and re-located the band to Calgary, Alberta in search of musicians with a more serious approach to the industry than the former members.
In September 2008, Adam Hwang, who Kurt had been in touch with months before leaving Ontario, joined AnathematizeD on drums. Adam brings musical talent, creativity, leadership and the dedication Kurt had been seeking for the last 4 years. He has a very fitting role with the songwriting, performance and simply makes anything regarding past drums in AnathematizeD look and sound like child's play. Now with things rolling again....AnathematizeD plan to have another demo ready by October/November with the past songs re-recorded (with more skill and technique) as well as the other tracks that the ex members could not perform correctly enough to record or play live finally recorded and a few new tracks.
As soon as a fitting bassist is found AnathematizeD will be once again playing shows and tearing up the western side of the country.
