TEXAS is a great place to live. Especially the city.
At 34 I combined my passion for music and my love for photography and came up a relatively new concept for a website; BANDS PHOTOS! Very few bands had websites at the time, and the few that did, their photos were not worth posting.
The digital age in photography had just hit the market (2001). MY PASSSION WAS BORN. The bands loved the free LIVE pics I sent them and I became good at it.
Less than a year into my new passion, i was approached by the guys from the old Z-ROCK station and asked to do a radio show. That rocked! Not having a clue about booking bands and radio shows, I jumped in both feet first and it was nothing but GOOD!
We booked three bands a week and played songs from all around the world. I loved it. (www.hardradio.com)
Within a couple of years I had a website (www.geocitities.com/dallaschickcamdotcom) loaded with almost 2000 photos.
Then, a very cool lucky break came to me. I met Chuck Flores from Buddy Magazine. He's the Assistant Editor.
In case you don't know, Buddy has been the origianl Texas Music Magazine in Texas since 1973. I read Buddy as a kid but had no idea the mag was still around.
I started working for them, shooting famous Texas Guitar Legends, interviewing them as well. I even put together a radio show for www.texasradio1.com sponsered by Buddy Magazine.
As for "marketing" the plethora of music in Dallas, well, there really isn't any ... it is verturally non-existant. I plan to change that.
If your from Texas and have a band, let us know!
If your a business that needs a place to advertise, let us know that too!
