Elara and Marie used to play together in several tribute bands, covering the songs of Marilyn Manson, White Zombie and Placebo. In the meantime Dead was (and still is) playing in a band of hard rock, called Mess. Elara and Marie met Dead in the ‘nightlife’ of São Paulo, approximately in 2006, and they used to go to each other’s bands concerts and hang out. It didn’t take long to them to start talking about a project of their own, and they finally met one weekend and started to create a few riffs for their songs.
Dead was also starting another band project with Voodoo, who was Dead’s ex-bandmate in a band called Living-Dead Barbies. Their band has ended after 1 year, but at the time they already had tons of unused lyrics and songs written and they were planning to use it in this new project. Since Dead was pretty much starting 2 band projects at the same time, he spoke to Elara and Marie about inviting Voodoo into the band, and unify both projects in one. The Same Old Morgue was born.
It’s hard to define the style of the band, since each member has a very different and peculiar taste when it comes to music… it goes from outlaw country to punk, classic rock, heavy metal, industrial rock and several other ‘styles’. After recording the demo ‘Bitch, Make Me a Sandwich’ , in August 2007, The Same Old Morgue is still creating and making other songs and they expect to record more songs till the end of the year, and start to play live in the 1st semester of 2008.’
