20 Minutes Into The Future. . .

I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships and Friends

About Me

28 y/o guy born and raised in Milwaukee, WI And before anyone poo-poo's Wisco you betta recognize, bitch who, despite all the great thing about living there (real crime, factory jobs, alcoholism, and people OD'ing left and right) moved away at 19 and just a couple of years ago realized I was trying to define myself by skyline and started staying put places longer. In five years I lived in New Orleans, Chicago, Madison WI, Seattle, Truth Or Consequences NM, back to Milwaukee for 6 months, and now Portland.Since moving here I've re-enrolled in school and mostly loving it, though it gets me down sometimes. Yeah, it was the work scene here that made it happen, that and the thought of doing kitchen or factory work for the rest of my life. I hope to one day spend my time teaching kids to deconstruct media images and understand ht e techniques used and, therefore, their power. I also have a profound interest in understanding the ways in which emerging technologies change the nature of human interaction and society. Now that I sound like a total fucking dork. . . Oh, and I supppose I should say here somewhere that I don't know how to drive, never learned. I am part of the bike revolution and we are legion."It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things." Terry Pratchett, JingoWhenever I dwell for any length of time on my own shortcomings, they gradually begin to seem mild, harmless, rather engaging little things, not at all like the staring defects in other people's characters. - Margaret Halsey

My Interests

Cut and Paste Society, Re-purposing is the Coolest

My Bicycle Keeping up on world affairs, both political and economical, studying the world around us through the news--which stories are told and how they are told by different groups and in different countries.More of a media junkie than a news addict Reduce, reuse, recycle I ? MY BIKE

I'd like to meet:

People Who Ride Bikes/h3)I need more bike friends, all of my friends drive to much and play too little.I want to meet people who have their interests, do their things, and can talk about it; about why they are into the things they are, what they've been up to, etc. I want to know people with a passion for something-- I don't care what it is unless it's being a white supremacist or a woman hater, or a country music fan. Wanna just hang out sometime?? If so I couldn't be happier, that whole always on the go, always making plans, always rushing from one event to another thing kind of drives me nuts after a while. What happened to sitting on the porch, chilling watching the sunset and getting loaded at home thing?? What happened to getting together with friends to make dinner together instead of always meeting at a restaurant?? This all doesn't change my desire to know more outgoing people, but if you can't stop and just relax we probably aren't going to get along very well.

Music:

DethkloK

Craddle of Filth, The Haunted, In Flames, Bowie before '84, Sigur Ros, Square Pusher, Sven Libaek, The Sounds , Autechre, Lali Puna, Chicks on Speed, Mark Mothersbaugh, Kimya Dawson, Bad Religion, and then everything else is Funk and Hip Hop, either in the Rakim,Eric B, Flava days or right now with that crunks ass southern shit Lately I've really been jamming to 70's southern rock and stuff. Oh, and even though it's embarrassing-- JOURNEY ROCKS

Oh, yeah, &

Movies:

I Heart Huckabies, Irreversible- though I'd never watch it again, Heather's, License to Drive, The Lost Boys, Grave of the Firefly, Point Break, Interview With a Vampire, Firestarter (I developed my first real crush watching this movie-- That right Drew, it was you you crazy bitch) and, now that I think about it, 50 First Dates was cute as hell. Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Moulan RougeIf you're not confused about my sexuality yet, imagine how this has played out throughout my whole life.At least I like stupid manly movies like Arnold ones (although i think kindergarten Cop was his best flic) and the: 1st Predator, 3 Aliens, 3 Nightmare on Elm St's, and the whole Lethal Weapon series were great. Oh, and Demolition man is priceless.

Television:

I am Max Headroom

TV is good. The worse the better. Could I be any happier than an Andromeda marathon?? Don't think so. Oh, maybe a chobits or bleach fest. If you don't know you're not as 'cool' as me ('cool' in this case is much the same as 'special' , like 'special' education) Hells Kitchen-- that guy is cool in the least west coast way possible

Books:

Mostly social theory and media studies stuff with a good founding in the old school public relations theory, that which started it all like Burneys, Lipman, and that Making Friends and Influencing People guy. Always glad to go back and re-read the existentialists, especially Russian and French--Dostoyevsky, Gorky, Andre Malrue, Celine, etc.Right now I've been going through a phase where I've been reading all oof this guy Lawrence Lessig's stuff-- all about technology and society and finishing up on Marshal McLuhans booksThe best book of all time is and always will be
