I got my background from 123backgrounds.com
Hi, I am a four year old Australian Cattle Dog/Husky mix...at least, I think that's how old I am. I don't really know, because I'm a rescue dog. When I was about six months old, I came to Colorado from New Mexico in a truck load of dogs picked up from various kill shelters and pounds. We were divided up amongst several rescue organizations when we got to town, and 9 Lives Rescue picked me out to go and live with a great foster mom in the area. (She really was great, even though she had two cats and wouldn't let me chase either one!)
Meanwhile, my soon-to-be forever family, Manitou Sue and Yukon Delfuego, had just moved into a new home and were looking for a dog to share their good fortune. Manitou Sue (I call her Thumb Mom, now) looked on petfinder.com for a cattle dog who needed rescue...and found my picture! You can't really blame her for falling in love at first sight, just look how stylish I am in my black and white best duds!
Anyway, a nice lady from 9 Lives gave me a lift to their house, and I met Mom and Dad and my Aunt Bobbi and Cousin Sassy, who is a Cairn Terrier. We played and romped all around, but it didn't faze Mom and Dad. That must have convinced the lady from 9 Lives that this was a good home, because she told Mom and Dad if they were interested in adopting me, they better sign the papers on the spot, because about five other people had said they'd like to take me home at the Pet Fair. Next thing I knew, they were looking around for a pen!
Now, we go for walks in the park every day, rain, sun or snow, and I never get tired of it. Now and then I get Dad to let me outside to chase away the deer that come down into our yard and eat Mom's roses. (I tried them, but they didn't taste good...the roses, that is.)
Sometimes I go hiking with Mom at Red Rocks Open Space, and sometimes I get Dad to drive me over to play with Cousin Sassy at her house. When she and Aunt Bobbi come to visit, we always go off and take a looooong walk. It only takes me one visit to recognize a place once we've been hiking there -- after that, I get very excited if we pass anywhere near when we're riding by in the car.
I love my family, and I love this area! I'm such a lucky grrrl!
