Natacha, flautist and composer, was born in Los Angeles in 1981 and spent most of her childhood in New Mexico. She received an education in music technology and performance at New York University, where she founded the new music group Ensemble Pamplemousse in 2002, and incorporated it into a not-for-profit in 2004. In addition to Pamplemousse, Natacha performs as a soloist in both contemporary classical and improvised contexts, and with various chamber ensembles such as Red Light New Music and Music Just Because. She has participated as a performer and composer in new music and art festivals worldwide, including Ostrava Days, Harold Arts, and summer school at STEIM. She maintains a long-standing passion for electroacoustic chamber works, and occasionally composes such pieces for Pamplemousse. Natacha has taught workshops in electroacoustic composition and performance at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Hartwick College. Plans for the upcoming year (2008-2009) include construction of a NotFlute (a modification to a standard flute to allow for filtration of inside sounds and activation of external electronic sounds); teaching a workshop in electronic music at the Montessori School of Raleigh (Mar 09); continued work on her recent chamber composition “butterfly effect;†U.S. tour with Ensemble Pamplemousse (Mar 09); and completion of an MFA at the ITP program of Tisch School of the Arts, NYU (hopefully May 09). www.natachapop.com
