Band History
The Extreme Agony project was born on a warm and sunny day in 2007 as our another musical vent to our repressed feelings. We came up with that tremendously exciting idea of forming a band of two sound-oriented “noisemakers†– Lukasz & Adam - when we were going on a train from Lodz to Katowice. Although the project was set up over two years ago, it was not until now that it got the desired effect.
Every day we are inspired by so many things as urban noise, film, literature and, of course, music. And so the music of fantastic bands like Burzum, Nadja, Earth, Sunn o))), Khanate, Merzbow, Aube, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree/Bass Communion, No-Man...), SPK, Opeth, Meshuggah, Nurse With Wound, Fear Falls Burning, Throbbing Gristle, Popol Vuh, Neu!, Organisation, Kraftwerk, Can, Tangerine Dream, Muslimgauze, Whitehouse, Esplendor Geométrico, Coil, Zoviet France, Nine Inch Nails, Godspeed You Black Emperor, to mention just a few, has always been greatly inspiring to us. But these bands (and not only these) have had a significant influence upon us. However, we did not want to copy anybody and sound like anybody else while recording these three tracks for that album. But sometimes you might get inspired so heavily that you do not know if the music you have just made is still yours. Like in Slawomir Mrozek's Tango you may say then “this already wasâ€. We did our utmost to tame our imaginations a little and thus saving our project's debut album Grains against any too frighteningly overwhelming inspirations.
We hope that Grains will enjoy a good reputation among the first new fans. At this point, we feel quite satisfied with our newborn baby – to say it metaphorically. It is widely acknowledged that an artist must get satisfaction from the whole process of creation and its final effect. Of course, we cannot call ourselves artists at this point of our humble little artistic career. But we do hope that, by pressing play on your CD player, you will not get at least bit bored with our new album.
We strongly believe that we [Extreme Agony] will develop our unique style yet. We even have a rough idea of what the next part of our project should sound like but it is merely a vague concept now. It is the most hectic time of the year 2010 for us. These days we are extremely busy promoting our new studio material called Grains. No one can say now what will have become of Extreme Agony in 2010?
