Ja’Malik® started training at the age of 10 at the Marguerite Duncan Studio of Fine Arts. At age 14 he was asked to study at the School of Cleveland Ballet where he was an apprentice/corps member for two years. He is Alumnus of the Joffrey Ballet/New School B.F.A. program. He received scholarships and attended; School of American Ballet, School of Dance Theater of Harlem, Joffrey Ballet School, and The Ailey School where he was an Allistare Butler Fellowship recipient, and worked with Judith Jamison, William Forsythe, Ronald K. Brown and Dwight Rhoden among others. He is a former member of the Oakland Ballet, Ohio Ballet, Natahn Trice/RITUALS,Earl Mosley's Diversity of Dance, CityDance Ensemble, and North Carolina Dance Theatre. He is a working member of Collage Dance Collective, Camille A. Brown and Dancers, He is currently a member of Ballet X in Philadelphia Pennsylvania .. Ja'Malik is also a freelance choreographer under the auspice BalletBoy Productions
As a Choreographer he has created works for North Carolina Dance Theatre 2 and CityDance Ensemble.
