Activist, Entertainer, Speaker, Teacher, FriendA native of Oklahoma City, Ok, resides and works in Washington, D.C. Since relocating to DC this 27 year old has been a vocal and visible activist in the areas of social justice, youth, LGBT issues, and HIV/AIDS. Brian currently serves as the President of the D.C. Coalition of Black Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Men and Women, the oldest Black non profit in the United States. Since becoming President Brian has worked on the revitalization of the coalition and established a website, and new logo, held numerous community events such as the annual Labor Day picnic, Kwanzaa celebration, town hall meetings, and worked with other agencies to co sponsor community events. Before becoming president he was involved with the coalition by organizing the annual Kwanzaa celebration in 2005 and helping with the Million More Movement Unity Weekend. He also is a former board member of Youth Pride Alliance as well as a current member of many other groups such as the Gertrude Stein Democratic Club, Gay and Lesbian Activist Alliance, the Greater Washington Urban League, and is the former COO of the Black National Pageantry System.Brian has been appointed by Mayor Anthony Williams and Mayor Adrian Fenty to sit on boards such as the Regional Health Services HIV/AIDS Planning Council, LGBT Executive Advisory Board, and the Mayors HIV/AIDS Advisory Board to name a few and is frequently called on to travel across the United States to speak on HIV/AIDS in youth, the African American LGBT community, and the black church. He has been featured in the Washinton Post,Black Pride Guide,Washington Blade,and MetroWeekly publictions.He has recieved awards fromthe American Red Cross, Capital Pride, and GLAA. Currently Brian is planning to return to school at Howard University where he will peruse his Master’s in Social Work, in the fall of 2008.Brian is also a male lead entertainer performering under the stage name Dereon Noir regularly in Baltimore and Washington D.C. to both heterosexual and GLBT audiences and has recently captured the titles of Mr. Capitol Pride in June 2008 and Mr. Club Leon's in October of 2008.
