The Musical Biography of Kerryn Rogers

As a talented eighteen-year-old singer, songwriter and composer, Kerryn first began to dabble in music at the age of five when she sat down to a piano and began playing simple tunes by ear. Since then her musical range and ability to extend herself has grown tenfold as she now boasts a shining collection of fifteen completed compositions with many more still waiting in the wings. With smoky vocals that sear to your core and an uncanny ear for music, Kerryn's style can be classified under genres that include the blues, soul, jazz and R&B with musical influences such as Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin and India Arie as well as artists Seal, Coldplay and Live.

Most times while composing, Kerryn creates a finished product in a very short period of time. Being a dynamic and spiritually-driven artist, she feels that most words simply “arrive” on the piece of paper - either from her subconscious mind or from a higher source. But either way, her first priority has always been to share her understanding of the depth and meaning buried in our everyday lives through her art. Her words, poetic yet subtle, form the beautifully crafted journal of experiences that is her life.

Her lyrics always carry a message of hope and belief which hides beneath sultry layers of smooth melody that dominate every one of her compositions and ultimately allow the listener to reach for that spiritual centre within themselves.

Kerryn attended Crawford College and was a regular performer in the college's musical events culminating in her winning Pop Idols in 2005. Kerryn made her public debut performance at “The Blues Room” in Sandton in February of 2007 where she received excellent reviews. She intends to carry her music career as far as possible. She has many goals - most important of which is to be able to record overseas and influence an as diverse and large an audience as she can because she hopes to one day be able to invest most of her time and funds into world charities and organizations and make as much of a positive difference in the world as possible.

Her motto is “Live within the moment” and with a little help, she is willing to go to any lengths possible to ensure that she touches as many souls as she can along the road ahead.
