Hanover (RIP)

About Me

Created from the ashes of Fall For Nothing, Five.Bolt.Main, From Within, and The Glasspack, Louisville’s Hanover has quickly risen to the top of one of the premier local music scenes in the US. Currently at work on their first full-length release, 2008 promises to catapult this combination of established veterans and relative newcomers to a new level as they continue to wow audiences with the raw energy of their live performance.
Hanover’s story begins in late 2007, when creative differences forced Savannah Hanover, Justin Tennison, and Jay Munsey of Fall For Nothing to seek a replacement drummer for their few remaining shows. They chose Ivan Arnold, of the recently disbanded Five.Bolt.Main (Rock Ridge Music) to fill the spot. The new lineup soon realized they had something special and (minus Jay Munsey, who had prior obligations) decided to continue as Hanover. When asked about this choice for a band name, bassist JT quickly replied, “We know it’s Savy’s last name but hey, it worked for Dokken and Coverdale/Paige. And we’re better than both of those bands. So there.”
Over the next several months Hanover played numerous shows, including opening for such modern rock giants as Nonpoint and Karnivool. This period also saw the return of Jay Munsey and the addition of The Glasspack’s Andy Garrett on guitar, finally solidifying Hanover’s lineup. The band also released their first EP, the aptly titled “Golden Shower.”
Hanover’s future remains bright, thanks primarily to their dedication to the music, live shows, fans, and each other. The band has managed to forge an identity based on friendship and a shared love of music, ignoring the temptation to try to “make it big” at any cost. Go to a Hanover show and you are guaranteed a good time with great music. And no one will try to sell you a $35.00 dollar t-shirt or attempt to get you to join a “street team.” The band’s philosophy is, and will remain, “Music, friends, and family. Everything else is just plain crap.”
