The Life of a SuperstarBorn in Poland, the prodigy of an entertainer, Alicja Le realized her dream of becoming a singer at a very young age. She was born, and originally lived, in a very small and poor village where there was no real instructor who could help her to evolve her talents. Alicja originally began learning different techniques and styles from watching and studying different artists that she saw and heard on television and the radio. She would practice everyday over and over again until she felt she had matched the performance of the superstar. As she began to learn new styles and blend them and add a little of herself she created the blend that makes her the extraordinary artist she is today. Alicia, like many others, grew up in a very difficult family situation. She learned early on how to fight for what she believed in. She also learned the sometimes hard lesson of how to survive when everything seems hopeless, and there’s no one in your corner, and it feels as if everyone is trying to break you.Ms. Le moved to Germany when she was 12. This was the beginning of support and guidance for her. Germany is where she began performing for audiences. She was a member of the school band or church choir where she was involved in dancing and performing. While doing this she was also coping with a new environment, one example would be that she began learning to speak German, Spanish, English and French. Upon completion of grade school Alicja knew it was time to begin chasing her dream.Alicja was very focused on her dream and wanted to know every facet of music. Alicja decided she would like to major in music at the University of Berlin, a very prestigious school in the area which is also very meticulous in its selection of students. The school accepts only one or two girls a year who must audition for their place. Two challenges Alicja had to overcome to get into the school where music theory and playing the piano which she knew nothing about. Since she was all alone and far away from home she began working at the local McDonalds where she would study at every breaking moment to try to master both of these. After months of studying and working at McDonalds Alicja decided she wanted to surround herself with music. She applied for a job with Jam FM, Germany's biggest urban radio station, and not long after she was the star of her own show. Jam FM was truly where Alicja found her inspiration and unique style. This was where fate stepped in and introduced her to soul and R&B music which she fell completely in love with. While working at Jam FM she reverted to her childhood techniques and began to sing along with every track and study every song to the dismay of her bosses. Being a woman who is very driven Alicja never lost focus of her goals she began taking piano, dance and singing lessons to help her chances at getting into the University of Berlin. After much hard work and determination Alicja went back for her audition and was accepted into the university. While in school Alicja took on a heavy work load. She began to study music by day and attended dance school by night. Although it was very trying for her as a young woman, it excited her to see the progress she was making. While taking on as much as she was Alicja's determination pushed her to find a way to the next level. Again fate helped her on her way when Die Allianz, a boy band from the area also known as Ohne Namen, requested Alicja to audition for them. Knowing her dreams and not wanting to loose her own style Alicja first wanted to hear the bands music before she would agree to anything. After hearing their music she was not very convinced this was the best step for her declined the audition, despite the group already having signed a large deal with Sony Record Label. Die Allianz, having heard that Alicja had the best voice in Berlin, continued to pursue her and eventually Alicja agreed and sang with the band. While with the group Alicja toured all over Europe and appeared on MTV, VIVA, Top of Pops, and many other broadcasts. Alicja also won a Golden Record for singing the chorus on the bands hit song "Take my Heart". All of this opened many doors for her to other projects such as singing with artists like Oli P., Aymen, Melanie Thorton, and she was also featured in the song and video WhatDaThing by Rapper Melendiz. While all was well, Alicja felt as if it were time to take her career to the next level. Since she had dedicated herself to soul and R&B she knew she wanted to be a part of the best entertainment industry in the world. She knew she would have to move to the USA. One day she heard on the radio that usher planned to exhibition some new talents during his concert in Atlanta. Alicja knew THIS WAS HER MOMENT! She looked up the management on Usher's cd cover, found out the number, and just called from Berlin to Atlanta. AJ Alexander, who discovered usher and who worked then for his management company, picked up the phone and she told him that she wanted to sing at the concert ,and AJ said "there’s no way!" The castings had taken place all over America and they had already chosen the artists who would perform. The artists were actually rehearsing while they were talking because the show was five days later. Alicja told him that she had to sing there. That’s when he put her on the spot and said fine sing for me now. Alicja being the natural born performer she is sang for him and was told that if she came from Berlin that day she would have a spot in the show. Knowing this was a big break for her Alicja packed a bag, bought a plane ticket only to hit a bump in the road finding out that her passport was invalid. Alicja refused to miss this opportunity, she cried at the embassy, always a good trick, they gave her temporary documentation and she was on her way to Atlanta. She didn’t tell anyone that she was leaving, not even her parents for fear that they wouldn't allow her to go overseas by herself. So Alicja with only a case of luggage and AJ's number traveled to Atlanta without as little as a thought about it. "Ok, I must confess, it was a little bit crazy, but I had to take the opportunity. There was no time to think about it," Alicja's feelings on her travel. 18 hours later Alicja landed and immediately dialed AJ's number and she was so relieved that he had answered. She told him "Hey, Its the German Girl, I’m here." He came, picked her up and took her to JPat Records, Ushers moms record label and management company, where she sang for her. After JPat gave her approval Alicja began rehearsing and she sang in the Universal Hall right before Usher. After that Alicja got offers from many labels who liked her performance and wanted to work with her. Even though this was what she had dreamed for it was all rushed at her, and Alicja was also afraid to stay because her family and friends still didn’t even know she had come to America. Alicja returned to Germany and decided to stay in touch with AJ until she came back, but once she left she got very busy in Germany again, and AJ stopped working for Usher, and they lost contact with each other.Alicja was not happy with what happened and felt like she missed out on a very big opportunity. She began to try even harder to achieve more and more in Germany . She worked day and night, she was booked out, and would still never say no to an opportunity. Unfortunately people also started to take advantage of Alicja, her talent, and her persistence. She overworked herself so much trying to deal with all the pressure and the runaround in the music industry. The pressure on her of trying to always be perfect was so big that she couldn’t even eat or sleep anymore. She got very sick. During the last concerts that she recalls being so dizzy " I couldn’t even see the audience anymore." One day she got a breakdown, the doctors said she was empty, physically and emotionally. The only way for her to get better was to take a break and rest. Alicja spent the next 12 months in bed. This still wasn't enough and she still wasn't getting better. Her doctors told her that she should try to accept that she might not be able to sing or perform ever in my life again because of the toll it was taking on her health. She was heartbroken because at that point it seemed to her as if that was all she had been living for. After a whole year of staying in bed hoping for the best, her health started to get better. She was making progress. Alicja started getting up, walking small distances, the she was able to meet people again. She slowly was able to reduce her medicine and then completely got rid of it. So of course, when people recognized that she was better they wanted her to work for them again. The wanted her to go on tour, to sing in the studio, but she didn’t want to. She was afraid that the same thing might happen to her again, and she didn’t know if I could take that pain one more time. So Alicja decided to wait a little bit longer. She waited and waited, and she is still pretty sure she would still waiting if her life hadn't have taken another drastic change. One day her fiancé who was always by her side came home and told her that "he had to go his own way because all that she had gone through killed his love for her". Also he told her that it would be nice if she could move out right away because he had found someone new. She was heartbroken. "I had finally started feeling better and then he was trying to kill me with that". All of a sudden she knew if she ever wanted be ok again she had to start praying at that moment. She said she had forgotten about god and praying for a long time because she was too busy to sing and sing and sing and trying to make it happen. That moment was when she remembered now that everything else was gone. The next morning she moved out and she decided to sing again. She called some people that she had worked with before and she accepted to give a concert with them within five days. Also she booked some other gigs for the next weeks. She had barley left her bed in the past two years and then she found herself touring again, and brokenhearted on top of that. Alicja says if someone asked her if it was easy her response was, "No..defnetly not! I was scared and I was crying a lot but I could feel that it is exactly what I needed, to get up and do me again".After a few weeks she got so excited about the fact that she was singing again and that she was living life again. She had the feeling that there was nothing that could stop her. She knew she was back, and that everything she had dreamed of was possible again.Refueled, recharged and regenerated Alicja had a plan. This time she said "No Compromises"' She was determined to dream big. She spend the next weeks and months writing new songs, recording them and getting her health together. She even started exercising and dancing a little bit more often. Then an amazing thing happened. David Le Brewer, the vocal coach of Beyonce and En vogue to name a few, moved to Berlin and by coincidence found her. He started working with her and brought her vocal skills to a new level "The American level". So once again Soul and R&B found its way into her life. One day he told her, "You can keep coming back, and keep paying me for lessons, but I'm telling you, you're finished. You've got everything you need, and by the way, God told me he is trying to move you".Strengthened by his words of encouragement, she was thinking the same thing, moving. Once she had it all together, she was ready. She was off to find AJ again, because there was no doubt for her that she had to come to the USA.She found his page on the internet and was surprised to see that he was working for JPat again. She wrote him and sent him her new songs and told her if she really wanted to come over he would work with her. She had a De ja vu. She packed a bag found some money for the flight and hotel, went to the airport and left, this time telling her parents and not crying at the embassy."And so HERE I AM in the United States of America, and since I'm here I've been working like crazy, oh and by the way I decided to stay till I make it...there is no plan B. My plane back left without me. If somebody asked me now if its easy? Hell no!! But whenever I feel like its just too hard, I remember the time when everything was gone, and I thank God for every single moment because honestly to me its a miracle that I'm here and I am able to sing again. Oh and there is no doubt in my mind that I will make it!!!!!!"Alicja Le
