The Outer Limits Oddness Off Licence

About Me

Formed out of the ashes of C30C60C90GO! (whose soundcheck for their one and only gig was better than the gig itself [Nifty playing guitar on the former and standing in the audience in dismay for the latter]) with a bit of band-alloy alchemism incorporating The Old Dolphin himself diving in at the last possible moment - The Silver Sitar of Carl Gent, and the protogenic genius drumming of Piers, and also part of the never heard of Print Farrago, The OOOF played its first ever gig on 22nd July 2007 at Ludger's Luddite Night at The Forum. No-one except The Forum staff, Ludger and the very well-versed Robert Brown bothered to watch us (which was fine by us as they were all toffy-nosed twits [the other bands] anyway) as we swirled around in a universe halfway between Space Ritual's Classic Hawk Approach and early Velvet Underground mayhem. 30 minutes the number lasted (Silver is a State of Mind) before Max (the sound engineer) joined in over the monitors (which was our main source of amplification – dread!) with a mantranic chant of "Your time's up... Your time's up... Your time's up...".
Magic.
Well, things have moved on since then, there has been one more billed appearance of The OOOF (now The OOF: The Oddness Off Licence for simplicity's sake) and another billed yet-to-happen appearance - both at the Nifty Nights at The Forum, but both the former and the latter are actually appearances by the newly re-constituted (at the last minute incidentally, BTW, etc.) Skinbat Scramble. The Oddness Off Licence did not reconvene for the Xmas Nifty Night (30th December) as for the moment it has ceased to be a band and has become more of a "staging post" between bands such the Old Dolphin Brigade where that entity meets the Skinbat Scramble. James W went on to form his own band, The Massacres, who were very good and at last saw James getting on with his guitar-playing, before massacre'ing themselves.
The tracks on the MySpace player are actually The Longtails from 1980/81, featuring Gideon's sax being played into a piano, and Joanne's violin at a jam on the second track.

Dates of Significant Change

In the Uptight Off Licence yesterday I noticed something that has been creeping up on me for some time: that as everyone seems to only have £20 notes these days, you end up giving all your change away...

The Uptight Off Licence

On Saturday I asked an attractive woman for ID as she was buying Smirnoff Ice with an irritating younger "Little Britain" type girl who I know to be under 18. The woman then accused me of sexually har...
