THE DREAM
In late Spring/Early Summer of 2007, 18-year old bassist/singer, Charlotte Pain of Darlington Co Durham, England had a battle plan… and inside her dirty-blonde hard head, she heard the dangerous sound of a noisy, messy and uncertain future: ROTTEN KANDY
THE PAST
Charlotte Pain was the Lead Singer of an all-girl band.
Charlotte, who also plays bass/drums/guitar and keyboards did NOT play any instruments in ROTF.
Charlotte was the front person…who wanted to sing and play bass at the same time, instead of being seen by the audience as a female Iggy Pop.
THE NEED
Charlotte NEEDED to be in a band where she would write/co-write/arrange/play bass and sing simultaneously in a band that would be like her favorites, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Doors, Nirvana, The Cramps, The Clash. Charlotte got her wish. She's NOW a member of ROTTEN KANDY.
THE SEARCH
Charlotte went to work after she left ROTF, writing/co-writing over 40 songs. She looked towards Glasgow, Scotland as the place in the sun where she would find the two guitars and drummer who would complete ROTTEN KANDY.
Jamie Gilmour of the Scottish Arts Council came through with the final line-up/members of ROTTEN KANDY: Div Russell, 21, guitar, John Cranston, 23, guitar, and Russell Cooper, 21, drums.
THE BLEED
As the English Summer of 07 burned on, Div, John and Russell made the grueling train journey to the mean streets of Darlo to rehearse and record EVERY WEEK…the 40 or so songs that are: ROTTEN KANDY.
THE 1st RECORDINGS
ROTTEN KANDY have Arranged and Self-Produced 7 Raw and Powerful Recordings: LIVE WITH NO OVERDUBS at the Forum (Darlo).

THE BAD ATTITUDE TOUR
ROTTEN KANDY have just completed their first public performances at the Forum Music Centre (Darlo) with Green Day Tribute Band, Green Days. They also headlined at Cumberland Arms, Newcastle with 8 other bands (including Frogma).
Audience were blown away in Darlo. In Newcastle, everyone filled the floor in front of the stage and danced. At the Newcastle gig, local musicians and a club promoter asked the band to play there again. In Darlo, talks are under way at Hospital Social Club, Tap and Spile, Backhaus, and a Return Engagement at the Forum Music Centre.
Additional gigs on the Bad Attitude Mini Tour are being planned, which may include: Middlesborough hotspot The Crypt and other jumping joints in York, Leeds and Planet Mars, if necessary.
MESSAGE TO THE U.K. JUNGLE / UK UNSIGNED BAND UNDERGROUND
ROTTEN KANDY are anxious to visit ALL their future friends and fans in the UK. If you are a band, please book a pub club or if you just want to have a band rock your next party at your house, flat or school, contact us!
