Music has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I'd always either be listening to music or playing music -- at home or performing for an audience -- for almost as long as I can remember.
I fell in love with music watching Saturday morning cartoons, hearing classical music throughout. I started playing piano at the age of five. Several years later, around the time that I moved to Hiawassee, Georgia at age nine, I became immersed in the music and culture of the North Georgia Mountains. I eventually taught myself how to play Appalachian (and other) folk tunes on the banjo. When I was about ten or eleven, I shifted my attention to guitar, learning tunes from two dear friends of mine: Jess Gibson and Zip Silvey. It was about this time that I started learning fiddle and harmonica.
Then, thanks to several other friends, I got into Delta and Chicago Blues, which inspired me to learn dobro and lap steel.
All of that listening, learning and performing finally caught up with me, and I've decided to write and record some songs of my own.
Booking:
Let me know if you're interested in having me play at your bar / club / dance hall / cathedral / etc., we can work it out. Also, I'm doing small, intimate house concerts. These are usually private gigs, and the host of the event can be creative with a choice of location -- from a dining room, den, porch or backyard -- to an improvised amphitheater in the woods -- send me a message if you're interested in inviting me to perform at your next event.
