A waiter, teacher, photographer and random voltage detector have pooled their distinct, often disparate, musical tastes together to form something akin to a proto-punk band. Imagine a mishmash of Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington and you’ll get a fairly clear picture of what we may or may not sound like. Throw in a touch of Can, Radiohead and the Doors and you’ll further obfuscate what may or may not be our distinct or typical indie sound. Then, while that’s boiling, add lights, fog and a sprinkle of Pavement, four relatively different personalities and you have The Gimmick. Finally, if you’re still reading this, get out of the chair, grab a bucket, fill it with moonshine and attend a show that is beyond compare or quite derivative. Enjoy or ignore.
