About Me

I suppose I became serious about playing guitar in 1973. I had been without a guitar for sometime when I bought a used Epiphone acoustic for $40. I had previously known a hand full of chords but after learning almost the whole Neil Young "Harvest" album I was inspired. I moved to Tulsa in the mid 70's from a small south central Oklahoma town of Wewoka. I joined up with some local friends and eventually played here and there around town. I think our favorite place to play was the old Cedar Creek Saloon @11th and Lewis. In early 1978 I moved to Norman and with several transplanted Wewokans we formed "Morning Thunder". We played around Norman and OKC mostly. In 1979 I returned to Tulsa and with a little help from my friends formed the band "Empty Pockets". We had a pretty good run for close to 2 years before disbanding. I've continued to write and in the last few years have gotten over 300 songs copyrighted. At the present time I am looking for a publisher and recording a few myself. That brings me to the current STIR CD of which I am very pleased to be a part of. I hope people will enjoy the CD and that this will be a success for the contributors and the river. You've been marked on my visitor map! Click to zoom in.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.jamsaungs.com
Band Members: Jamie Saunders --- vocals, instruments, production and engineering. Mastering at Natura Studios by David Teegarden----except "Ease My Mind" from "Songs For The Illinois River" (STIR) CD. All songs written by Jamie Saunders.

Influences: Early on The Beatles, The Stones, The Byrds, The Beach Boys and 3 Dog Night and Donovan were a few. Later on The Eagles, CSN&Y, James Gang, Todd Rundgren, Dan Fogelberg, Jimmy Buffet and Pink Floyd plus many others. I've always been pulled toward songs with tight harmonies. And as singer/songwriters go Carol King, James Taylor and Paul Simon are hard to beat.
Sounds Like: It's hard for me to say but probably a little here and there of all my influences. But you always strive to have your own sound.
