THE KEEPAWAY

The Dance Dance Revolution of Rock

About Me

The Keepaway is a band out of Long Island, New York. With a passion for individuality and old school belief in how to reach the masses, The Keepaway have been out on the road since day one and working towards making fans one at a time if necessary.
The band is made up of three members. Dave Ringel, being the lead singer and guitar player, comes in with the most previous experience. Having played with such bands as Edna’s Goldfish (moonska), Step Lively (triple crown), and 28 Orange Street (now known as Common Rotation), Dave has learned a basic belief in touring non stop and putting on a show. Joey Mauro, drums and backing vocals, has become an inarguable leader of the band. Joey met Dave while recording drums for another band. They decided to try working together and the two original members formed. Working with promoters, booking agencies, web designers, and everyone else that keep the band moving, Joey is the business face of the band. Ryan Goldberg, the bassist and other backing vocalist, is the fans fan. Known for always being the first to say hello and the last to say goodbye to anyone who wants to talk, Ryan has become the first face that everyone is excited to see. With high stage energy and always eager to play, Ryan’s commitment to an energetic stage show has become a staple to the band.
A curse to some bands, The Keepaway’s sound has actually given them the freedom to play a diverse genre of shows and grow an audience where ever they play. The band has been defined and redefined by promoters, bands, labels and themselves. Starting in the Post Hardcore scene, the band’s name was thrown in with such acts as Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, and Thursday. Recently they have been put into such genres as Indie and Power Pop rock. The band has been so indefinable that they have been put as the opening act for Plain White-T’s, The Arrogant Sons Of Bitches, Boys Night Out, Divide The Day and most recently were put as the direct openers for Glassjaw at one of Glassjaw’s first local appearances in years.
“Three Months Reflected” (recorded at Sabella Studios) is a six song Ep and the first release for The Keepaway. Based on three months written is Dave’s journal, some of the album tracks have already been release in compilations being used by California clothing store “The Edge” and Sexy Killer Records. The band is now eager to play all the places where they are getting recognized and will be in the Mid West and on the West coast pushing the new release.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: thekeepaway.com
Band Members: David - lead vocals/guitar, Ryan - bass/vocals, Joey - drums/vocals
Influences: We are influenced by the world we live in, our families, friends, and enemies. We are influenced by the events in our lives and the people that helped create them. There are alot of different bands that influence us that I will not attempt to write at this point. For this is ever changing. We are influenced by you.
Sounds Like: Turn on your speakers and listen. To describe what we should like is very hard. Its hard for every band to describe what they sound like. The best way is for you to listen and decide for yourself.
