About Me
Layout by CoolChaserIt’s not often you find a man of his word, but that’s exactly what you get from 25 year old Kevin “Statz D. I Game†Jones. Raised by a single mother in Yonkers, NY, Statz D. I Game is the oldest of three siblings. As the “man†of the house, D. I had to grow up fast. Unfortunately, this fast paced lifestyle caused him to be sent to a group home at the age of 15. Before going to the group home, Statz had already discovered his true passion! After being exposed to rap music and local rappers, Statz discovered his own gift to rap at 13 years old. By witnessing and being conscious of the hardships and suffering around him, he wrote lyrics that were advanced beyond his years. It was apparent that D.I was special as he continued to develop his craft both in the group home and in the streets. After spending three years in the group home, D.I returned home better and wiser. He performed anywhere he could and made both Yonkers and Newburgh, NY his home. Through local showcases and his blossoming fan base, D.I became a ghetto superstar!
He established his own independent label called Full Clip Akademy and developed strong associations with several other independent labels. Those independents include Rich or Broke out of Yonkers, Brand New York from Newburgh and Bam Records in the Bronx. Statz is currently recording out of several local studios including, Ruff Ryders Powerhouse, Rich Academy Studio and Macdee Productions. D.I has performed at New York Soul Café, Brooklyn’s Carver Club and many local nightclubs and colleges in New York. Statz can be seen on Video City TV, 730 Films and Most Hated Films as well as in a video on you tube entitled Welcome to Yonkers, which features fellow artists Gadah Bogard and Buck n Change. Additionally, Statz can also be viewed at www.myspace.com/statzdigame, www.myspace.com/dinetwork and www.myspace.com/fullclip_akademy.Most recently, D.I completed an independent album entitled Man of My Word, which is scheduled to be released on January 25, 2008. The album proves that D.I is not only capable of changing the rap game, but that he is ready to bring the versatility back. In a recent interview, D.I says that he is “Striving to turn hip hop back into an art and make it challenging again.†He adds that, “I don’t have to curse in every song to get my point across. Any good artist is able to get their point across without always being negative and violent.†While D.I still maintains a rough, street edge, he is intelligent and meaningful in his content and delivery. With songs like “More Pressureâ€, D.I reminds people what hip hop is all about, while on the album’s title song, D.I expresses the difficulties faced by so many men in our society. His swagger is that of a true New Yorker, in that it’s straight to the point, authentic and one of a kind. His voice, with its raspy growl, lets you know he means business and his lyrical prowess, business ethic and leadership style remind you that D.I is a man of his word!
