About Me

With her soulful voice intertwined with songs that are both passionate and reflective of her everyday life, Whitney Layne is pursuing her life-long dream of being a professional singer/songwriter and shows no signs of slowing down. She discovered at the early age of 4 when she first stepped onto a stage, that this was just the beginning of what would be a life-long journey for her. She remembers vividly seeing the whole audience rise in unison as she finished her rendition of "Broken Wing" at her 7th grade talent show. She experienced a huge adrenalin rush and waves of emotion as she realized that all of those people were standing in applause for HER! She realized she never wanted that feeling to end and drove her to pursue her dreams no matter the obstacles life would bring. At the age of 16, Whitney wrote and recorded "The Perfect Man" which made its way up the Independent Top 40 Charts. This catapulted her career as an artist and songwriter. She started working with producer, Chuck Meyers. Meyers helped develop her as an artist. He pushed her to reach higher and work harder. In 2006, Whitney went to the Western Regional Finals for the Colgate Country Showdown. Later in 2007, she was awarded the title of Star of the West, representing the West in singing and songwriting.Whitney made the easy decision to make the move to Nashville in 2007. Shortly after, a huge opportunity arose as she joined the Star of the West Tour, where she found herself opening for Kellie Pickler, Josh Gracin, and Charley Jenkins. It was a multi-state/city tour that went through the summer of 2008. This gave her a great opportunity to hone her performance skills and gain a true appreciation of life on the road! That was not the end of the excitement in 2008! Whitney was introduced to and gave a private performance for 3-time Grammy Award Winning producer/engineer, Commissioner Gordon (Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse. Working with Jive, Universal Island Records, Mercury, A&M Records (Europe), Warner Bros. Records, Universal Republic, Columbia, Arista, etc.). Whitney and the Commissioner are currently working on a music project together combining country and soul, which is getting an exciting buzz going within music circles in both Nashville and New York."I feel so blessed to be doing what I love everyday and to be writing with some of the best songwriters in Nashville".Whitney remains optimistic towards the future and hopeful as she continues on her musical path. Anyone who knows her would describe her as positive and passionate about both music and life in general. She continues to fine tune her songwriting skills in Nashville and takes the stage on a regular basis.Whitney Layne
