TeeJay, known to many as simply "Mr. Windy City" has been perfecting his craft for years on the Chicago music scene, having successfully released his first single, "Mr. Windy City" which became an instant Chi-Town classic, becoming the most requested song on the largest hip hop/R&B station in the city, WGCI, and going on to sell over 15,000 copies independently.
Having an insatiable drive, TeeJay decided to go even harder, remixing Monica's hit single "So Gone" and adding his own flavor to the already undeniable track, again scoring a 1 hometown hit. The song was so heavily requested that it topped both major urban stations in the Chicago market, WGCI as well as "Power 92", garnering an unprecedented 75 spins per week and is still in rotation to this day.
Though he has definitely achieved a great deal of success in his still growing career, TeeJay has also seen more than his share of adversities along the way. As many doubted if he would ever take another breath, let alone pick up another mic, TeeJay overcame an extremely delicate, 9-hour open heart surgery that many may not have been able to survive. Maybe that’s the reason why the young man puts so much of his heart into his music.
If that wasn’t trial enough, he also watched as his mother beat cancer, not once but on two separate occasions, saw 7 of his closest comrades killed in senseless acts of violence, 2 of which by their own fathers, and was even homeless for a stint, all while never relinquishing his own dream of touching his fans through his music. One listen to his music and you will know that he has only transformed these tests into testimonies, further proving that he is definitely here for a reason.
Now, having experienced success in his own city, the more mature, more calculated TeeJay has now set his eyes on the national spotlight. No stranger to the national scene, having been prominently featured in a nationwide MGD commercial campaign as the featured artist, TeeJay is ready to show hip hop fans in all 50 states what all of the hype back home is all about.
Having provided A&R services for several projects and ghost-writing for a long list of artists, the multi-talented TeeJay leaves nothing in his career up to chance and is steadily etching his name as a major voice within the industry.
