About Me

WWW.BRIANSON.COM / BRIANSON.DEVIANTART.COM
"To inspire and be inspired."
I'm currently working at J. Walter Thompson as a creative intern doing the 8 hours a day, 5 days a week thing--designing various advertisements for Ford-related materials. It's not my dream job, but it's a start. It allows me to balance between working in a corporate environment and to be creative. I'm grateful that I'm actually working with my degree, not working for it. I occasionally free-lance, mostly for Neurodisc Records doing CD designs.
On the weekends I work as a barista, making everything from espresso shots to small, skim milk, sugar-free vanilla, no foam, extra-hot, with one Splenda, lattes. It's a nice side job that allows me to space out and meet interesting people (or un-interesting people). It's working these various jobs that really brings an appreciation to what people do. Even though I may be a gentle guy, customers who demand respect will receive none at all. The customer is usually always fucking wrong.
I'm a Taurus, and although I don't buy into horoscopes or anything of the sort, I will admit I'm stubborn as hell. Regardless of this pre-disposed characteristic and the love for anything soft, I'm very laid-back and reserved. I'm not very out-going and definitely not the most charismatic person around, but I can be one of the best listeners you'll ever know.
I enjoy watching movies and reading a good book when I find one. I like to balance between appreciating a beautiful film like The Fountain, to laughing at the jokes of Family Guy. It's good to laugh and it's good to cry.
To my surprise, I can cook well, I just don't choose to. I rarely cook and if I had my choice, I would only eat out or eat delicious home-made meals. The food you eat is reflective of you. I try anything once, even if it sounds odd or looks odder, I will try it. Who knows, it might be the best thing you have ever tried. People who will at least try are open-minded, but people who don't try anything new and are picky with their food--well, let's just say I don't get along with them too well.
Music is my life. Many people say this, but I say it with pure conviction. It is pure auditory creativity, it is what calms you, moves you, brings tears, brings hope, brings joy. It is what feeds your rage, it is the comfort that only similarity can bring.
Life is complicated, difficult and full of questions. But if it was simple, easy, with everything answered, would it really be interesting? I think not.
I try to embrace chaos, because we spend too much time trying to figure out, but not understand. We live life with the idea of wishing for a different past, a better present and a perfect future. The past shapes who we are, the present prepares us for the future, and the future is what scares the hell out of most of us. But each day is an amazing day and we must take as much out of it as possible and enjoy every minute of our lives. Each minute lost is another minute closer to the minute we die.
I try to live life simply, to ask "why" and to understand that I can't understand everything. I don't delve in petty or naive situations and keep important people in my life closer. I do what I can in my own limitations, but never less than what I should be doing.
