"Everyone befriends me from what they imagine I am, or should be....and they don't ever look inside of me, for my secrets."(Persian poem).
Sorry if I didn't immediately approve a "friends" request - I didn't necessarily deny it (no webcam's please).
about me, please read my blog.
I generally don't take friend requests from people who don't communicate, seriously. The "Capricorn" from my profile should not be taken seriously; Scientific tests show that there is no correlation between the "Zodiac Signs" and personality.
Also, many of the other things shouldn't be taken sersiously, since evidence is also lacking.
The most beautiful woman in the world is nothing, compared to beautiful music.
Beautiful women grow old, and wrinkled, and die like cattle; their glory is brief, illusionary and often fruitless - but music from 400 years ago is as beautiful now as it was then.
I can feel what Beethoven felt, almost two centuries after his death, by listening to his music.
The feelings of some dead men are worth more than those of many living men and women.

"The first essential in chemistry is that you should perform practical work and conduct experiments, for he who performs not practical work nor makes experiments will never attain the least degree of mastery."
-Geber
" . . those sciences are vain and full of errors that are not born of experience, the mother of all certainty."
“the age of heroes is dead, the Christ-God killed it; leaving humankind with nothing but weeping martyrs, fear, and shame.â€

I have learned not to say what I feel, and to smile at those I most hate."
--Michael I of Romania
I find in human nature a terrifying sameness, and in the human condition an inexorable force, granted to all and to none. The word must is one of the curses which Mankind is baptized.
--Georg Buchner
Why you kill me? I never did you anything. Not kill me! I beg not to be locked up. Never let me out of my prison - not kill me! You kill me before I understand what life is. You must tell me why you locked me up!
--Kaspar Hauser
But can you not hear the dreadful screaming all around that people usually call silence?
--Georg Buchner, from Lenz
if I abandon this project I would be a man without dreams and I don't want to live like that: I live my life or I end my life with this project.
-Werner Herzog
I make films to rid myself of pain, like ridding yourself of a nightmare.

A Liberal is someone who is a patriot of every country but their own.
-John Tyndal
Patriotism is the last resort of a scoundrel.
-Samuel Johnson
(Notice that the two quotes above can be compounded into a single statement)
"In a time of war the nation is always of one mind, eager to hear something good of themselves and ill of the enemy. At this time the task of the news-writer is easy; they have nothing to do but to tell that a battle is expected, and afterwards that a battle has been fought, in which we and our friends, whether conquering or conquered, did all, and our enemies did nothing."
-Samuel Johnson
I do not mean to exclude altogether the idea of patriotism. I know it exists, and I know it has done much in the present contest. But I will venture to assert, that a great and lasting war can never be supported on this principle alone. It must be aided by a prospect of interest, or some reward.
-George Washington
"Some claim a place in the list of patriots, by an acrimonious and unremitting opposition to the court. This mark is by no means infallible. Patriotism is not necessarily included in rebellion. A man may hate his king, yet not love his country."
-Samuel Johnson
Love of country is like love of woman -- he loves her best who seeks to bestow on her the highest good.
-Felix Adler
