About Me

Larry Allen, Paul Reitz, Geof Land and Gary Steinman are a group of four friends and seasoned musicians from the California Central Coast. We began our musical journeys independently in the late 70's and early 80's, each exploring a wide range of genres including folk, classic rock, blues, jazz, reggae, country, indie and alternative music. That diverse experience over the past 30 years has now melded into Impromptu, a band whose sound is a unique blend of original and contemporary music mixing lyrical and intricate ballads with soaring anthems and foot-stomping dance tunes.

Impromptu’s original music reflects both personal and universal perspectives on love, life and social issues and is an upbeat fusion of acoustic-electric rock and Caribbean rhythms with a dash of funk and occasional hint of country. We also have an extensive repertoire of classic rock tunes, reggae, blues and standards to fit most any venue. Impromptu performs locally at wineries, dinner and coffee houses, the occasional nightclub, community events, fundraisers, private parties and weddings. We thoroughly enjoy playing and creating music together and feel fortunate to have found such a good vibe between us and with those we've played for.
