About Me

whateverlife.comMost people would probably say that if you know me, you really know me. I don't have many acquaintances, so I hope that means I'm real, relateable, and down to earth. I am a mom to four, yes you read correctly four children. I love being a mother and find that it reminds me to be amazed at the simplest of things. I am loving life with my husband Abdul, and am finding that the journey IS the destination. Real life is the everyday. And everyday I wake up blessed.all in a MOMs day

My Interests

HMMM, I can't remember. Am I allowed to have interests still?Ara insists I can and do have interests. So here are a few: enjoying the outdoors, camping, hiking, sailing, just being. Spending time with friends having coffee and sharing moments of release. Spending time with my husband, who's conversation continues to captivate me and send me to the library.Reading, listening to music, scrapbooking (althoug it's been a while since I took the time to do it.)Watching and playing sports of almost any kind. I love the emotion and commitment of athletes.

I'd like to meet:

Jesus, to thank Him for His grace in loving me at my most unlovely moments. For the gift of children, so I could understand how His love for me could be both so completely about me, and yet not about me at all. For new days, weeks, months, and years so I can always feel like I am starting with a clean slate. Thank God grace is new everyday, cause I always manage to spend mine.Abdul when he was little. I would love to see my wonderful, albeit hardened, husband as an innocent unscarred little boy. I would bet a million dollars he was Makai with an afro. He insists he wasn't sensitive, but I know better.Jailyn, when I was nine, so we could play together. Somehow I've become incredibly boring, but I know I was full of excitement and joy at nine.Maya Angelou, I just find you to be an amazing example of pushing through the debris of life to find the extrodinary in the everyday. Thank you for "rising" to show us that we can do the same.

Music:

Ibnsoul (check out his myspace page), Mike Barnett (I've been wearing a whole in your CD since you played here) India Arie, Jill Scott, Indigo Girls, Lauren Hill,Nicole C. Mullens, Tracy Chapman, John Legend, Odds are if Abdul likes it, I will too. Except Mint Condition. Yuck, Bad Memories

Movies:

Of course Bend it Like Beckham, and I'm ashamed to say it, almost every "Cinderella Story": Pretty Woman, Maid in Manhattan, I know it's because I think there's something more, undiscovered within. On a deeper note, Crash, Amistad. But my all time favorite . . . Love Jones. We'll never exhaust the possibilities Babe.

Television:

Mindless anything mindless. Reality TV at it's finest. I only watch TV so I can turn my brain off completely

Books:

All things Maya Angelou, Rasing Fences, Eldridge, CS Lewis,John Piper,John Maxwell. Of course the Bible. The only self-help book I'll ever need, but not the only that I'll ever read.

Heroes:

My mom, she taught me strength wrapped in grace. Maya Angelou, and other people who have overcome emense adversity in order to reach their God given potential and design
