I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Greetings to new friends and old friends alike. I'm a sports journalist. I currently work as the college sports reporter at The (Petersburg) Progress-Index. Virginia State University is my main beat, but I tend to hit the NCAA Division I programs in the area, too. I covered the NHL for 5 seasons -- traveling all over North America in the process -- earlier in my career. I've covered everything from preps to the Arena Football League along the way and won the Kansas Press Association's sports reporter of the year award (Daily, Division I) in 2008. I've met everyone from Mario Lemieux (great guy) to Ric Flair (also a great guy) to Michael Vick (not-so-great guy) during my time in the business. I've lived in Maryland, Raleigh, N.C., and Kansas City, Mo. -- and I'm happy to currently reside in Richmond, Va., with my wife, step-daughter and English bulldog.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I've been lucky enough to meet most of the people that would show up on such a list. Here's who I hope to never meet again:
