At a young age, Michele L. Whitney had been exposed to all types of music, and at the age of 9 found her passion in the oldest known wind instrument...the flute. Michele was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago where she attended Poe Classical School, a gifted school that had a special program dedicated to the performing arts. In 1988, Michele won a scholarship to attend the Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago, where she studied privately for several years. While studying at Sherwood, Michele participated in the Morgan Park High School Band, and in 1992 was selected to join the Chicago Public School's All City High School Band. She was a member of the All City Band until 1994. Michele has also performed in several other local events, church services, and orchestras including the Hyde Park Youth Sinfonia (Currently known as the Hyde Park Youth Symphony). Although primarily trained in classical music, Michele also has an extensive contemporary and jazz repertoire. From 2004-2005, Michele was a member of the Sherwood Conservatory Adult Flute Choir. She currently studies flute privately.Although music is her first love, Michele is a dedicated advocate and volunteer; having volunteered or advocated with organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association, The Humanitarian Service Project, ASPCA, The Humane Society of the U.S., and local Long-term Care Facilities. Michele also holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing as well as an MBA.
