Alli Ruth began her education in bellydance with NEMA (Near Eastern Multicultural Association) in 1998. She has since expanded and refined her technique through training with highly regarded dancers such as Diane Weber, Anaheed, Amara, Sa’ Elayssa, Djahari, Anja, Alexandra King, Ansuya, Aisha Ali, Fathieim and most recently Jenna, Roxxanne, Sherri, Zahra Zahar and Regine Costello.
In 2002 she became a member of Perfumes of Araby, the longest standing bellydance troupe in the United States. She was also a principal member of Desert Sin Dance Company, and a founding member of the troupe Subee Djinn.
While rooted firmly in the American-Turkish tradition, her performances are often accented with a touch of Modern-Egyptian flair. Her skills include veil, sword, drum solo, zills and floor work.
In addition to Middle Eastern dance, she has studied Modern Dance, Breakdancing, Classical Legong and basic Ballet. She holds a Masters degree from the California Institute of the Arts and runs La La Zara bellydance boutique.
Alli Ruth currently performs as a American cabaret soloist in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
