Never take a job where winter winds can blow up your pants -- Geraldo Rivera

About Me

Tess Trueheart meets Power Girl. I have dozens of red sweaters and polka dotted scarves hanging in my closet. My principal super powers include: interrupting, giggling, and quoting, sometimes I'll quote movies or books, sometimes I'll quote you. I can quote you because my memory is awesome, remembering is one of my secondary super powers. When not hanging out with my private dick or the Justice Society of America, I can be found playing on swings. I don't valet my skateboard. + = MySpace Profile Editor !

My Interests

Animals (especially Meaty and Finnegan), art (painting, drawing, gridding, coloring, button-making, t-shirt-making, jewelry-making, mixed media, Stuart Davis), karaoke, walking around, looking under "misc." (usually find what I want there), swings, the beach, piano, guitar, crocheting, furniture, camping, boating, bowling, movies, musical theatre, whimsical stuff.

I'd like to meet:

People mainly. I also like cats, dogs, bears and fish. Get Your Own! | View Slideshow

Music:

In no particular order (except for Willie Nelson, who is number one making all others two or lower): Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Radiohead, Dick Dale, De La Soul, Blackalicious, Flight of the Conchords, The Clash, The Carter Family, Violent Femmes, Led Zeppelin, Outkast, Folk Uke, The Blow, Pearl Jam (also Green River, Mother Love Bone, and Temple of the Dog), Bob Marley and The Wailers, the other Wailers (as in, the original garage band), Bob Dylan, Weezer, Cake, Leonard Cohen, The Reverend Horton Heat, Neil Young, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Raconteurs (and misc. Jack White) Mos Def (No. 1 on my approved and laminated "Do List"), Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, Jurassic 5, Aerosmith, Beastie Boys, Patsy Cline, Janis Joplin, BB King, U2, Manu Chao, Snoop, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, Pixies, The Animals, Mix, Gustavo Santaolalla, American Analog Set, Transfer, Stevie Wonder, Hank Williams, blues, blue grass, rockabilly, soul, ukulele noir, rap, hip hop, trip hop, classical, baroque, raggae, punk, funk, etc. -----------------------------------------------------------I also think it's helpful for me to list my least favorites: Christopher Cross, Sade, Al Stewart (responsible for the second worst song of all time, "The Year of the Cat"), Jackson Browne, Michael McDonald, Gino Vanelli, Panic! at the Disco, Death Cab for Cutie (which is saying something b/c they originated on my home turf and I still hate them, despite my usual tendency to support local bands), Mike and the Mechanics (responsible for the third worst song of all time, "The Living Years"), 10cc, Seals and Crofts, Jim Croce (RIP, but still responsible for the worst song in radio history, "Time in a Bottle"), Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson (both for ruining the Black Eyed Peas and for a truly hideous and completely pervasive solo career), and let's throw in Gwen Stefani for good measure, though I'm just scratching the surface here.

Movies:

The Big Lebowski (and most other Coen brothers pictures), Grosse Pointe Blank, Office Space, Election, Coal Miner's Daughter, A River Runs Through It, Eight Men Out, Kissing Jessica Stein, Waiting for Guffman (and anything else Christopher Guest), Newsies, The Graduate, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Edward Scissorhands, Harold and Maude, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Dogfight, Fear of a Black Hat (just love those mocumentaries), Uncle Buck, Nashville ('cause I'm easy like Keith Carradine), Oliver!, The Periwig-Maker, Fiddler on the Roof, Lost in Translation, Shaun of the Dead, An American in Paris, Gigi, Wes Anderson flicks.

Television:

Home Movies on Adult Swim, Arrested Development, Kids in the Hall, Chappelle's Show, Charlie and Lola, Jeopardy!, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Sex and the City, Northern Exposure, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Deadliest Catch, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Pimp My Ride, Laguna Beach (I swear on our relationship), The Wonder Years, The Office (BBC and NBC), Coupling (just BBC), HGTV, Conan, Project Runway, 30 Rock, Generation Kill.

Books:

Catch-22, Trash, Bastard Out of Carolina, Different Seasons - Hope Springs Eternal: Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, The Red Pony (and Steinbeck in general), Das Kleine Panama Album, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, Arty the Smarty, The Bluest Eye, The Crucible, All Powers Necessary and Convenient, The Night the Bear Ate Goombaw (I celebrate the entire Patrick McManus catalogue), Into the Wild, any dictionary (even Black's Law and the Merck Manual, sadly), maudlin poetry (Cummings, Rilke), and every Chuck Klosterman book, article, or blurb I've ever gotten my hands on.

Heroes:

Mr. Dressup, and any others who hang around sock puppets, keep their clothes in Tickle Trunks, and make neat stuff out of Dixie cups and pipe cleaners...provided they're not chimos.Lola... Heir ist Lola. Woher kommen wir? Wohin gehen wir? Woher wissen wir?
