About Me

WELCOME TO MY BROTHER JAKE'S MYSPACE PAGE!

Firstly, this page is dedicated to Steve, my best mate & stage partner on & off since 1992. God bless ya mate. Nowadays a solo act, My Brother Jake began life as a duo early in 2004 when Steve & Oscar both agreed that they could no longer be bothered with lugging around 4x12 Marshall stacks & drum kits after 12 years of doing so in various different line-ups. So they decided to go unplugged & take their set, a wide range of covers & acoustic adaptations of popular songs - ("A bit of something for everyone") around pubs here, there & everywhere. The emphasis was always on audience participation & the vocal harmonies which became their trademark. Alcohol seemed to go hand in hand with their performances & their gigs always guaranteed a good night out. The lads became regulars on the local gigging circuit, meeting some incredible people & fellow musicians along the way, (ALL of whom they would like to thank for their help & support), before the demands of a family business & an expanding family of his own forced Steve into early retirement. "All the best mate. It's been a fun 16 years (!!!), & there have been quite a few unforgettable gigs for both of us I'm sure! You're welcome to join me on stage again anytime." So that leaves me, Oscar, playing solo to anyone who's into live music, simply because I love doing it & always have done since I've been old enough to walk into a pub & watch other people doing the same. & because it's cheaper than drag racing! Hope to see you at a gig sometime. Be sure to say "Hello".
