For over 25 years IRIE RECORDS has been on the cutting edge of Jamaican music.
Proprietor and acting director, Karl-Erich Weiss, better known in the Reggae world and to friends as Carlo a.k.a. Ras Karl a.k.a. the Governor already got infected with the Reggae virus in 1976 when he attended his first "blues dance" in the UK.
He started out as an exporter/importer of strictly Jamaican vinyl pressings during his first six week visit to the "island in the sun" in 1978, supplying Reggae music mainly to a mere handful of record stores in Germany and a growing local Reggae community. In late summer of 1981, right at the beginning of his near two years residence inna Jamdown, where he worked as an ethnographer, IRIE RECORDS was established and registered as a company in Muenster, Germany functioning as a mail order service as well as a record shop.
Up to this very day IRIE RECORDS is supplying the local, national and international Reggae community with all types of Jamaican music, Ska, Rock Steady, Roots and Dancehall/Ragga via the retail outlet (the now famous basement store), the mail order service, website and distribution.STRICTLY REGGAE WE A DEAL WID!!!
