Acoustic Stew

About Me

Acoustic Stew hails from Charlevoix County, with members from Charlevoix, East Jordan, and Norwood. We have been around in one form or another since the turn of the century (Hahahaha!). We like to play for open-minded eclectic people, as the music we choose to play tends to range from slightly obscure to extremely obscure. We play songs that we like, songs from our youth, songs that are fun! Whatever strikes our fancy. In a typical set you might hear a traditional folk song followed by a 90's modern rock song and then, maybe, a Snoop Dogg song... You get the idea! If you are looking for typical "Bar Band" music, I have several friends who do just that, but please don't ask us for Freebird or Brown Eyed Girl! You will recognize most of the songs that we play, even if you don't know them by title! We tend to play the "B-sides" that were not made popular by radio play, but were nontheless recorded by popular artists. We have an entire "Forbidden Set" that consists of avant-garde selections from Ween to the Rocky Horror Picture Show. We are often asked to classify what type of music we play, to which we respond "Whatever we feel like playing!".
