Influences: A lot of my inspiration comes from interaction. I recently moved to NYC because I needed a change, I spent my whole 23 years in Detroit. Since I traveled so much I didn't have the outburst I did until I spent so long working on my Jimmy Edgar album that I just finished.  Detroit is what it is, and inspiring it is. Life in Detroit is different; hard. Now that I am in NYC I feel less powerful and in control, which in turn fuels me to sleep even less and work twice as efficiently. Detroit is in my veins, which is enough; I don't need to go back. It's a dead city with a history, nothing is left for me at this time. When I'm not inspired by city interaction I am disrupting relationships in my life to create inspiring drama, I drive the people I love up the walls constantly.
I don't claim to be an artist, I just like to keep busy expressing myself because I'm hardly articulate with words on the spot, I'm rather shy. Everything comes natural or else I say fuck it. I don't prefer to push things unless I see a futuristic potential in them. I've just been doing music for a long time, so it's rather tainted in a lot of ways. Sometimes I feel too ahead of my time, other times I'm completely stuck in the past. Photography is a passion of mine, but my reasons change frequently. It's so adaptable; I love making people look beautiful and creating the mood, yet I also love the moments where you can catch an emotion by simply setting up a reality for those emotions to take place. Photography can be about personal relationships too and displaying them in unique arrays.
Right now I'm really into fashion illustrators. David Downton is a favorite. Fashion photographers also give me a lot of inspiration. Fritz Kok, Miles Aldridge, Bruno Dayan, Steven Klein, Jamie Nelson. As far as music, I've tried to remove myself from any musical inspiration; not because I fear being inspired by it, but because nothing at the moment is making my body vibrate. I always have my music on shuffle, it's pretty extensive but largely R&B, Jazz, House and Funk.
Sounds Like: My music is for girls and boys. I think most music is either girl or boy; Aphex Twin told me about that with 'Girl/Boy Song'. Though what I do is completely different. I like to make people feel masculine and cool, while feeling sexy and sensual; this is my male/female balance. Sex is a vital inspiration for me a lot of times because I am constantly sexually frustrated. I realize the potential of sexual energy.
I worked with a well known musician on the Her Bad Habit project, though we aren't on good terms so I won't mention the name. His girlfriend insisted on being part of the project and watching it unfold as we worked together. She became sort of a muse within the studio as there seemed to be quite a bit of tension between us all. It turns out she had alternate intentions. I found myself in some pretty awkward situations, to say the least. We ended up parting our seperate ways and I finished the tracks in raw format. Her Bad Habit was named after her and her style.
