the story..
Hero Theory was formed in 2006 with the name ‘The Takeover’ with Daniel O'Dell on Lead guitar/Lead vocals, Daniel Bridge(Froggy) on bass guitar, Jack Kiteley On Rhythm Guitar/ Vocals and Harvey Dixon on drums. We started writing Pop/Punk songs but lost interest and stopped practicing. In May 2007 we were asked to play at a friends party in the summer so we reformed and started practicing regularly again. Our lead guitarist Daniel O’Dell had written a lot of material while we were on our ‘break’ so combined with the 2 songs we wrote before the split (This Voice & Lost & Found) we already had at least a set for the party. After playing a successful set at our friends party we decided to keep going and see how well we could do, we practiced every Saturday at our drummer, Harvey’s house. Over the next months we wrote more of our own material progressively moving away from pop/punk and more towards our own sound we like to class as punk/metal. We were asked to play a gig in St. Neots at the Priory Centre, however our bassist Dan told us that he wasn’t enjoying it anymore and wanted to leave the band. So we didn’t have to pull out of our gig in St. Neots we asked Chris Viggars, a friend from school, if he would help us out by playing with us in September (St. Neots gig) and possibly joining the band after. It was at this stage where we decided on a new start and changed our name to Hero Theory. The St. Neots gig went really well, we played a set of around 40 minutes consisting of 6 songs, we played with The Scene, The Perfect Crime and Nick The Robot, and we also had stickers made for us which Jack had designed at home and his dad had printed at work. We also asked our friend Zoe Hellewell (an aspiring photographer) to take photos of us. After which we asked Chris to join the band, which he did and is with us still to date. From there we have written a couple more songs and have made a 6-track demo (My Life’s Flashing, My Cursed Night, This Voice, Thief, The Path We Walk and The Storm Is Coming) and we are lucky enough to be getting album sleeves made for us which again were designed by Jack (rhythm guitar) and printed by his dad. We are currently writing more material and playing as many gigs as we can.
