The beginning of this journey started in late 1974 in Panama City, Florida. Lee Lyons, Dennis Smith, Tafaya Sutton and Rufus Woods started a gospel singing group. These four young men then invited Bro. James Kelly to be a part of the group. The group became known in the church community and began to receive invitations to sing. Bro. James Kelly began to seek the Lord through prayer for a name for the group. The group used the name “Free Spirit” for about six months. However, in January 1975 marks the official beginning of the Free Spirit Singers, Inc. In the early years, the group concentrated its efforts mostly in the Bay County area. However, God began to expand the membership of the group and caused it to reach the surrounding counties as well. It was during this season that worship and evangelism was birthed in the heart of the singers. In August 1977, Lee left Panama City to attend college at Florida A&M University. During his college tenure Lee sang with the FSU Gospel Choir, General Uprising Gospel Ensemble and became the choir director for New Zion P.B. Church.In 1982/83, a group of young people started meeting together for a bible study led by Min. Larry Curry. It was during these times of prayer and study of the Word that a greater awareness came concerning our God ordained destinies. The bible study turned into a ministry and thus, Agape Evangelistic Ministry was birthed. The ministry traveled for three years throughout various parts of Florida evangelizing, conducting worship seminars and ministering to the needs of God’s people.In 1986 while attending a two week revival at Metropolitan Cathedral of Truth, Agape Evangelistic Ministry submitted itself under the leadership of Pastors Kennith & Helena Barrington.January 16, 1995 The Lord prompted Pastor Kennith to come and speak to me about what was on my heart concerning ministry. It was then I shared what the Lord had been speaking to me over the years about pastoring and establishing Priestly Praise Ministries, Inc.
