David Goodstein was born and raised in Miami Florida. After dabbling with violin and piano, he was inspired to play the drums by watching his father. His first break came when he was asked to form a band with singer/songwriter Nil lara in 1992. Nil's mix of cuban rhythms and rock provided David a unique template for expressing his musicality and groove. their 8 year run resulted in an independent record, a major label record (Capitol Records), and various national and international tours opening for artists such as Los Lobos, The Bare Naked Ladies, The Samples, Meshell Ndegeocello, Natalie Merchant, and many others. They played various national and international festivals including the H.O.R.D.E. tour, the Doctor Music Festival in Spain, and the North Sea Jazz festival in Holland.
In 1999 David relocated to Los Angeles, where he has been regularly recording, performing, and writing. His playing can accommodate any style from rock to jazz, and even the Ringling Brother's Barnum and Bailey Circus, (summer and fall of 2000). some of the artists David has worked with include:
