About Me

MUSIC: What type of music does WXAV 88.3FM play? We play music that Chicago needs to hear, the type of music that no one else has the guts to play. You might label us as being 'alternative', but in truth we are the alternative to mainstream commercial radio - we are The Escape From Ordinary Radio. We play the best mainstream and underground music the world has to offer. From such genres as Indie, Metal, Hardcore, Alternative, Local, Underground Hip-Hop, Folk, Blues, Jazz, Classical, all can be found right here at WXAV. But that isnâ€™t even the best part of WXAV 88.3FM. The best part of WXAV 88.3FM is there are NO COMMERCIALS!!!! EVER. So you donâ€™t have to worry about 20 minutes of commercials as you are stuck in traffic coming home from a long day of work. The main focus at WXAV has been and always will be the music. Every single dj on air is there because they have a passion for music and we wish to pass that passion on to you. Another unique quality of WXAV is our involvement in the Chicago local music scene. We support local artists in spreading their music to the masses. WXAV is one of the few stations in the Chicagoland area that features local music throughout the day. If youâ€™re in a band, and have your band's profile on MySpace, please add us and send us a message about your band. WXAV will do itâ€™s best to respond to you in a timely manner.
