Influences: Inspiring Musicians, Bands, and Comedy:
What made me pick up the bass was old school bootlegs of The Police. The raw energy of the band grabbed me and I've never had a choice but to play music ever since.
My favorite comic writer ever!
I've gone through just about every music phase you can imagine from jazz to metal, pop to classical, punk to showtunes. There's something to learn in everything, whether it is what to do or what not to do.
I went through and enjoyed a classic rock phase, The Who, Led Zepplin, Hendrix and anything else you could imagine in this catagory. I love raw energy of rock and roll and channel it for every show.
My teen influences are late '70s early 80's stuff. The Police, Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, The Pretenders, Fugazi, etc. Anything Bass Guitar driven has always caught my ears.
These days I draw my musical inspiration from my peer group, sitting in song circles and supporting friends at live shows.. You can listen to all the records in the world. None of them can move you like a live show.... isn't it sad that more people don't realize this???
I've been lucky enough to share stages across the country with Greg Klyma. He is a consummate performer and a pleasure to work with. Our duo Vagabond Van is a driving force in what I am doing these days
Comedy is a big influence: Steve Martin, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, David Cross... etc. Political comics who have no boundries at all, like the writers of South Park. It all needs to be said.
Sounds Like: It sounds like fun. It sounds like an electric bass played like you've never heard it before. It sounds like every style you could imagine morphed into one for the sake of your enjoyment.
