Guitarist Luis Salazar has music in his genes. Although he comes from a long line of musicians, he initially resisted following the family trade until his senior year in high school when, purely by mistake, he picked up the guitar. After high school, he played in several bands and drew the attention of various labels. When the offers didn’t pan out, Salazar began working in music production and engineering. He has since built up a solid repertoire in the international market and has played and recorded with various acts such as Emanuel Correa of the Colombian powerhouse El Trio and Grammy winner Louis Marquez. His work has also been featured in several films. While playing at a music showcase in Germany in 2004, Salazar met Danny “Styles†Schofield. The pair maintained a working relationship and continued to collaborate on various Blackout Movement projects over the next few years. Salazar was initially brought on as a writer for Solar Mesh, but soon took on the role as lead guitarist. His bluesy, ambient style brings a soulful intensity to the group’s unique sound.
