About Me

'dAWN' was recently released and is now available through and other online venues.
I would say around 1995 I started making music, basically arranging music to suit my own tastes; finding what it was about music that moved me. As I progressed I decided that I would search for a record label. I found Noise Factory Records and thus Sparrow Orange was born. Sparrow Orange began in 1999 with their debut "The Beauty of Strangness"; an almost ambient, all electronic... somewhat dry but has moments of release, fluidity and always craving perfection. In 2001 their 2nd release was more mature, dramatic, soft and heavy. This release was electronic, ambient, with the use of guitar as well as organic sounds.
Over 5 years later and 'Night' is being released along with 2 other albums in the near future... stay tuned.

Some reviews of "Hands and Knees Music"...
"...Sparrow Orange presents an atmospheric melange of electronic and organic sounds that seems to be influenced in equal parts by Boards of Canada, Joy Division and David Lynch soundtracks. The album's dozen tracks build slowly as brooding synths and phantom samples tangle with gentle breakbeats, ethereal guitar lines and occasional ghostly vocals. This is not a record that jumps up and demands attention, but rather quietly requests it, and then slowly slides into the listener's subconscious where it comfortably settles like some pleasant and distant memory." - Feedback Monitor
"'Hands and Knees Music' offers the listeners a journey through many different emotions; from strange, almost disturbing, eeriness to pure bliss. Somehow, everything goes perfectly together, making the songs flow, almost unperceivable, into each other... there are an infinite amount of details to discover." - Moving Hands
"From the chillingly eerie to the sweetly sentimental, Sparrow Orange is undergoing a metamorphosis in technique and I look forward to new developments on his next album. It’s always exciting to come across a musician who is actively growing in a way that is actually enjoyable to listen." - Exclaim Magazine
"The nutshell comparison might be Tortoise crossed with The Orb -- the tracks on Hands and Knees Music aren't so much songs as evolutions in which melody, texture and rhythm entwine and run a mesmerizing and unpredictable course. SO's soundscapes are as fluid as anything on the Extreme label, if slightly more vaporous." - EYE weekly
"Like Boards Of Canada, Sparrow Orange gently sweeps you to an airless, weightless world to subtly stunning yet mildly unsettling effect... elements of Labradford or Jason Pierce at his most heart-broken and strung-out while collaborating with ‘Ambient Works’-era Aphex Twin or Arovane, all conducted by Angelo Badalamenti. Quietly, eerily and seamlessly perfect in almost every way." - Comes With A Smile Now
THE BEAUTY OF STRANGNESS
Release Date: 1999
Some reviews of "The Beauty of Strangness"...
"Displaying the perfection of sound, their debut EP is build around humming electronics, ambient synth lines and subtle technoid beats where some shy speech samples sometime makes their intrusion... an engaging piece of intelligent electronic music... Sparrow Orange is creating a powerful landscape where technoid and ambient show no borders. A strange and seductive beauty. Excellent." - Electroage
"Judging by the sound of this opiated disc, this Grand Rapids, Michigan, act may be sneaking a few too many Tylenol 3's out of grandpa's arthritis jar... like Mouse On Mars that's been mellowed waaay out and occasionally darkened to Nurse With Wound standards... then again, you can purchase those handy ephedrine tablets at any truck stop in Michigan." - Exclaim Magazine
"The cd as a whole may conjure the comparisons of film soundtracks... or at least artist known for scoring films such as Angelo Badalamenti or even In The Nursery. Sparrow Orange can disturb and enlighten the listener at the same time." - Grinding Into Emptiness
