About Me

Having started in the 90's with dance and pop music V. decides to return to her roots of traditional music.
Today V. concentrates on her personal quest of creating uniform ambient music which is the result of an ongoing metamorphosis.
Coming from a multicultural background and being fluent in six languages, V. experimented so far singing in over ten languages and embraces collaborations with musicians from different origins and generations.
Her new musical style which she describes as ''floating music'' is created either by conscious control or involuntary surprises.
Multiple sound effects are combined and used on vocal tracks and instruments creating particular ambiances.
Vs' quest is to create musical spaces which glide through dreams, different atmospheres and refer to ancient ecclesiastic and secular music with ethnic intonations.
In the past V. also participated in recordings for film music, dance, theatre plays, classic music, advertisements and background vocals.
Former collaborations with: José Besprosvany, Daniel Schell, Dick Annegarn, Ottawan, Bo Spaenc, Madjid Khaladj, Sandip Bhatta Charya, Peter Crosby, Britta Hoeyberghs, Klaartje Askoop, Marie Cavenaile, Kris Decraemer, Gwen Cresens, Serge Dacosse, Avi Kaiser, Mahir Tezerdi, Yves Labie, Marie Cavenaile, Cecilia Kankonda, Hugues de Courson, Gabriel Jacoub, Dirk Descheemaeker, Jean-Luc Plouvier, Pierre Narcisse, Jan Kuijken, Zoltan Lantos, Damiano Pulitit, Daryoush Tari, Sandra Kim...

Influences: Floating music is directly inspired by the Ethereal Darkwave movement which appeared in the late 1980’s in Europe and the United States.
The musical concept can range from the repetition of a simple musical phrase involving a limited set of notes to a more elaborated structure with direct influences from ethnic, secular and ecclesiastic music.
Numerous sound effects are used on voices and instruments creating breathy atmospheres and heavenly ambiances.
According to medieval ecclesiastic beliefs angelic transmission was achieved through sacred chant and reunited humans with god.
The term floating refers to a continual and monotonous movement which undergoes subtly through changes. In a psychological context floating can be described as a disconcerting experience where an individual is slipping briefly into a previous state of his life.
