I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a 30 year old medical student at American University of the Caribbean, starting clinical rotations. I'm over halfway there, and I'm getting more excited by the day.About me: I love to read, listen to and make music, make and observe interesting conversation, and enjoy life's simpler pleasures, like good food and cloudless days. I'm a classically trained violinist who's a bit out of practice and a self-taught guitarist who dabbles a bit with woodwinds and the piano. I enjoy camping, and I enjoy backyard sports when time, space, and sufficient numbers of people permit. I'm an enthusiastic traveling man, and I take every opportunity I can to broaden my horizons by visiting new places. I'm a huge fan of board games and word games, and I'm an avid tabletop RPG player (i.e. Dungeons and Dragons, Exalted, etc.).I am a student of philosophy and greatly enjoy discussions about it. My current fields of interest are Hermetic philosophy and alchemy, though I have been known to delve into other realms as well.I tend to analyze people and things, perhaps a little too much, but I enjoy gleaning all I can from every situation I experience. I try, as much as possible, to drink in everything that life has to offer me, because I will not pass this way again. I'm a coffeehouse philosopher, a sometime poet, and have almost become a member of the clergy twice. I might still, before it's all over. I'll cross that water-ford when I come to it, I suppose. People describe my sense of humor as ironic and dry, and often somewhat morbid (thanks to Mom). I'm very talkative once I warm up (which rarely takes long), and I greatly enjoy being in the company of people who enjoy good conversation. I'm a bit of an epicurean (though Geoff would doubtless disagree.. those crazy Classicists...), and I take great pleasure in indulging any and all of my senses. The woman I have chosen to love for the rest of my life has agreed to be my wife, and I couldn't be happier about it! I know it will be a long engagement, but I am simply ecstatic that Jen and I will be married within a few short years. I have found the helpmate that God intended for me to have, and I count my blessings every day.Thank you for your interest. Send me a message if you think we will have something to talk about.

late night ramblings from St. Maarten.

Well, it was a lot longer than i thought it would be since the last time I wrote.  It's been, in fact, long enough for me to have finished my first semester of medical school and be well on my wa...

It's been a long time since my last post...

Well, for the sake of posterity, I should remind everyone reading this that I got into medical school.  As if anyone who talks to me for more than about 2 minutes could forget, with me talking ab...

Survey by a person who writes poorly, answered Bob-style

So, I found this survey on Shroom's site and decided to take it.  The person who wrote many of the questions seems somewhat stupid, but I'll leave the bad questions in for the sake of making fun ...

Mint, tea, and me.

I'm sipping the first cup of tea I've ever properly blended with the mint from my plant outside.  It's good, but the tea's a bit too strong.  I kind of thought I should ha...

Another day..

The ER was a bit hectic last night, to say the least.  Now, it's off to bed to try to salvage at least a *little* sleep before I have to go back to work at Eyemasters... which is probably going t...

I think this is a dangerous place...

It's far too late, yet again, but I think I've been sucked into the Myspace mindtrap.  I just spent an hour grading my professors from Centenary, and it was somewhat cathartic.  I especially...

My first blog.

This is my first web log entry... my very first blog.  I thought about trying to say something incredibly cool or meaningful, but I find that, to quote Ed Kowalczyk, "My well is dippin' dry today...
