Jon and Chris Hoffman were originally born in Stuttgart Germany with their grandfather, Papa Hofmann, who was an accordion repairman. When they were just 7 and 8 years old their mother sent then across the Atlantic, to the America, inside of floating baskets and wrapped in fleece blankets for a better life. There they met a Tibetan tea master who taught them advanced mathematics and physics. In their early teens they pitched a show idea to Nickelodeon called "Guts." This is where they got their big break, but the producers of the show wanted to start fixing the show so their friends' kids could always win. The Hoffmans hated the idea of unfair game play, especially when they were putting 17 years old high school students up against kids in grade school. So they focused their artistic talent elsewhere and became pastry chefs in Colorado. Soon after they realized it would take decades before they became well recognized by any world class chef in the world. This was the major turning point in their lives because they started to play xylophones, vibraphones, megaphones, Dictaphones, and sousaphones oh and did I say Dictaphones.
